True stories are the most entertaining, from the epic (“I once high-fived Michael Jordan”) to the epic fail (“actually, turned out to be just another crisply undershirted man with an inappropriate Hitler mustache”).
Get your Hanes® on the truth — and on a free beer, which is its own special kind of truth — at Tom Shillue’s Funny Story, a new monthly comedy series featuring stand-ups, actors, and Moth bards relating hilarious true tales at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Brewery.
Led by former Daily Show correspondent Shillue, and running this Thursday from 8-11pm, Funny Story puts the mic in the hands of a motley crew, including:
- Vice Magazine co-founder and frequent controversy-magnet Gavin McInnes expounding on the perils of being raised by immigrant parents
- Jimmy Fallon writer Seth Herzog’s take on the life of a downtown comedy host
- and Conan O’Brien writer and performer Jon Glaser’s sardonic musings on a deceased father who may or may not have been in ZZ Top.
Seated at communal tables in the brewery’s sprawling brick-and-exposed-wood space, guests will enjoy a complimentary pint straight from Brooklyn’s vats during the show, as well as drink specials on their array of craft beers.
The more of which you consume, of course, the more truthy your stories will get.
