Your Executive Tri Coach

Triathlons: very hard.

Even harder: finding time to train for them.

We’ve got just the guy to help.

Introducing Mikael Hanson, a former Wall Streeter turned pro endurance coach who specializes in a very crucial skill: fitting intensive training into a hectic lifestyle.

Hanson left finance after 15 years to found Enhance Sports, where he tailors programs to fit anyone from over-committed CEOs to sleep-deprived dads. He’s trained everyone from beginners to world champions.

Here’s the program: Hanson gauges your fitness level at Chelsea Piers. Then, he trains you with workouts like sprint sets in Central Park, grueling rides over the GWB, and eventually open water freestyle swims off Long Beach — all designed around your schedule.

And it works — at 43, Hanson is still knocking out over 20 endurance events a year.

Once you’re lean and mean, put your training into action: June 9th marks the Mighty Montauk Triathlon, beginning in the waters of Lake Montauk and winding through East Hampton’s scenic historical routes.

It’s a refreshing alternative to the New York Tri’s dip in the Hudson, and you won’t need a haz-mat shower afterward.
