From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.
Dinner: Cafe Birdie
Highland Park
Cafe Birdie is capacious, with exposed wooden rafters high above its tiled floor and an expansive marble bar that stretches almost the entire length of the left wall. But its simple menu, with items like a pork cheek ragu and butcher’s pasta (veal and lamb), is rich enough to make you feel right at home this winter. The reasonably priced wine list also makes this a great go-to for a standard date night or a catch-up with friends.

Drinks: Good Housekeeping
Highland Park
After dinner, grab some cocktails at Good Housekeeping, the speakeasy that’s directly in the back of Cafe Birdie (or through the alley behind the restaurant, off of Ave. 57). It’s a small room with affable bartenders. Most of their drinks skew towards the traditional, with modern twists like charcoal-filtered Manhattan.
