They say you should “date your wife.”

Surprise her. Try new things. Never let your relationship become a routine.

Take furniture shopping: “you’re married; you’re boring” personified. You could go to IKEA. Or you could try the date-your-wife version: RH Chicago, a castle-sized showroom of fine home furnishings with a five-star restaurant on the ground floor, now open in the Gold Coast.

Taking up residence in the historic Three Arts Club building — originally built in 1914 as a space for young women to practice the arts — the newest edition of Restoration Hardware offers 70,000 total square feet of shoppable showroom space.

But the real draw here is a glass-and-steel-encased courtyard eatery from the same crew who brought you Au Cheval, Doughnut Vault and Maude’s Liquor Bar.

Bonus points for complimentary valet parking.

Here’s your intel on three parts of the store you must hit.

Level Five
The store is divided into five floors, with each level dedicated to a different collection in Restoration Hardware’s catalog. You’ll wanna start up top, where you’ll find two rooftop perches decked out with outdoor furniture. It’s peaceful up here. A manicured al fresco getaway. Bring a book. Or, y’know, a glass of champagne.

Level Four
Newly launched, RH Modern is Restoration Hardware’s foray into the modern design market. You can peruse the new range of wares on the fourth floor, which includes work from a global roster of talent, including AD100 architecture firm Marmol Radziner. Also on the fourth floor: RH Contemporary Art, another new initiatve that connects international artists with Restoration Hardware’s global audience.

Level One
The crown jewel of RH Chicago is actually on the ground level. There are a number of food concepts down here, all overseen by rockstar restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff (Au Cheval, Green Street Smoked Meats), from a wine vault and tasting room to an espresso bar serving up doughnuts from Doughnut Vault.

Grab a seat in the 3 Arts Club Cafe, the glass-and-steel enclosed central courtyard cafe. Get the simple grilled fish and a glass of white wine and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
