The Chicago Marathon, you may have heard, returns this weekend.
Projected: 45,000 participants — zero of whom, in all likelihood, will be donning a suit.
Which is too bad. Because it’s possible.
How? An apparel brand called Ministry. They craft rugged officewear for active, on-the-go dudes. And they just opened their first store downtown.
You may know Ministry from their erstwhile days as Ministry of Supply, the company with the co-founder who broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon run in a suit.
See? Told you. Possible.
Since then, they’ve dropped the Supply and launched a women’s line, but everything on the men’s side has remained the same. The garb is still minimalist. Still cut for movement and built to keep you cool and dry. Still as handsome and functional as ever.
But that world record-breaking half-marathon? It owes to the Going Places Blazer, a tailored jacket featuring a four-way stretch Japanese fabric, and the accompanying Going Places Pant, a wrinkle-free number designed to move as you do.
Throw in a crispy dress shirt and Ministry’s new mac jacket, and you’ve got an office- and marathon-approved fit that’s good for all seasons.
You’ll wanna head down and check out all the gear in person.
Just don’t get in any of the runners’ way.
Nota bene: Wanna talk shop with the world record holder himself? Ministry co-founder Gihan Amarasiriwardena will be at the store’s grand opening party next week, October 13th. More details here.
