Prior to the NFL season kicking off last night—and the New England Patriots’ 42-27 loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs—star quarterback Tom Brady told the press that, at 40 years old, he was in the best shape of his career.
We can assume that part of that statement stems from Brady’s bodily intake, which is made up of 80 percent organic vegetables and 20 percent lean meats—and lots of no’s (as in, no iodized salt, no white flour, no white sugar, and no MSG). Back in March, it was revealed that Brady would be hawking “TB12 Performance Meals” through a subscription meal-kit company.
Now, to the main course: Brady is set to publish a book on living the Tom Brady lifestyle on Sept. 19 called The TB12 Method, reports the Wall Street Journal. Simon & Schuster reportedly paid Brady a $5 million advance for it, with the assumption that the quarterback’s book will appeal to a wider range of readers than just Patriots fans.
“There aren’t any other 40-year-old NFL quarterbacks who are still performing at their peak level, so clearly, something about this method is working,” Jonathan Karp, president and publisher of the Simon & Schuster imprint, told the Journal.
The title has already reached No. 1 on Amazon’s best-seller list—and it hasn’t even come out yet. (This was due to a blitz of pre-orders.)
“We expect The TB12 Method to become what’s known in the book industry as a category killer—the defining book on the subject,” Karp told the Journal.
