Bret Easton Ellis is sick to death and he’s not going to take it anymore! That’s at least how he’s been tweeting about talking politics of late.
But the author, who most famously wrote American Psycho, has had some choice words of late for prominent Hollywood liberals such as Lena Dunham and Barbra Streisand in the wake of the Trump’s election. And he’s not stopping there.
In a July 16 tweet, Ellis griped, “[I’m] not having political discussions with anyone anymore. Done. Too much insanity. Another dinner ruined. People are f—ing crazy. Get a grip.” That was followed up by two more on the same day:

That last point seemed to sting the most, as someone apparently accused the author of being a Trump apologist. And while it might seem like he’s simply defending his candidate, that’s not actually the case.
Back in February, Ellis told the Irish Examiner that he didn’t vote for Trump, but with that said, “the hysteria is bothering me a lot more than the reality of what he’s doing.” He went on: “I don’t really know what the path to power is with protest, it’s done, this is where we are. If you wanna protest, protest the DNC, protest Hillary, protest whatever. But what you’re protesting here is an elected president.”
