As we learned from Saturday mornings spent with Daphne, Fred, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby, there’s something magical about watching best friends with a VW bus.
This video from Florian George — a restorer and collector of classic VWs — further proves that.
After learning through happenstance about a VW bus that’d been abandoned in France’s Chartreuse Mountains, George was able to locate the vehicle and buy it from the landowner.
Since the ‘55 VW Type II hadn’t run in multiple decades, George was planning to tow it down the mountain to his garage before he had a brainstorm: why not bring the garage up the mountain?
George enlisted some friends to help him with the project and, after plying them with BBQ, beer and mojitos, the gang managed to get the bus running and were able to drive it out of the forest all the way home.
And they would’ve got away with it too if it wasn’t for those meddling kids … Just kidding.
