I’m a hardass when it comes to sports cars and their color schemes.
They can come in black, red or white. If you have one in green or orange, you best have a trophy to go along with it. And if you have one in yellow, I’ll assume it came with a trophy wife. All that said, I’m not opposed to being schooled on occasion. Especially when it concerns a car that will let you have your color and change it, too.
Enter: this gamechanging — and color-shifting — carbon-fiber McLaren P1, which just arrived on U.S. soil.
Owner Manny Khoshbin originally asked for it to be painted white, but when he found that the manufacturer was offering full carbon bodies, he requested something a bit more exotic. The world’s first chameleon P1 went under the knife at the company’s technology center in Woking, UK, before being shipped stateside. One other P1 exists with the paint-scheme (it belongs to Major Leaguer C.J. Wilson), though Khoshbin’s is the only with a full carbon body.
Coined the MK Edition, the color changes depending on available light sources and the angle at which one is viewing it. From over here, it’s pink, but from over there it’s orange and yellow with sparks of green.
It might not bend my rules any time soon, but it’s certainly a head-turner.
