Renault introduced attendees of this year’s Paris Motor Show to the Trezor, their conceptual model of an electric, self-driving car.
While the Trezor is not a functional automobile, it does suggest Renault’s creative direction moving forward; clearly, it doesn’t want to sacrifice style for efficiency and technological advancement. The Trezor has a sleek, futuristic exterior design with a bold, red interior, a hexagonal grid of air intakes under the hood, a hinged canopy, and exterior lighting that communicates with pedestrians. In short, the Trezor is the Daft Punk helmet of cars, and it is glorious.

Even if some of these design concepts are impractical, think of the Trezor as a fashion show runway outfit that expresses the aesthetics and capabilities of its brand. And, given Renault’s ties to Nissan, it’s likely that at least some of these ideas will spread to markets beyond Europe as driverless cars gain popularity.
