This 50-Year-Old Sexpot Is Still a Heartbreaker

The Ford GT40 MKI, drawing lustful glances since ‘66

Fifty years from now, it’s going to take a whole helluva lot of “restoration” for us to look anything like we do now. Honestly, it will take a miracle. Not so for this legendary GT40. Perhaps one of the most significant road-going Fords, she’s as fresh as a daisy.

Built in Ford’s Advanced Vehicles factory in England, the GT40, although street legal, came with some sweet remnants of a competition racer, boasting a power performance 4.7L V8 with 355 HP and a ZF 5-speed gearbox, the same as the track models.

After a four-year intensive revamp, the one-of-a-kind GT40 is hitting the auction block at Mecum in Monterey this month, complete with fresh leather upholstery, air conditioning, a heated windscreen and a phenomenally preserved chassis. Best of all, there are just around 11,000 miles on her.

And if this isn’t enough eye candy, we suggest finding yourself a copy of the July ’66 Playboy wherein this sexy little beast had a cameo before heading to 12 Hours of Sebring.

No doubt they gave her the centerfold.
