A high-end yacht designer with a tasty name — Matthew Bacon — has also come up with a yacht concept that’s got our mouths watering.
Inspired by the some of the same technology that’s used to make America’s Cup competitors fly on water, Bacon’s 160-foot yacht concept pairs a retractable hydrofoil wing with turbine engines powered by hydrogen gas to create a watercraft that’s both speedy and sustainable.
Bacon’s Settantanove Concept Superyacht has an interior that’s made to accommodate multiple modular layouts to match any buyer’s whim, and its lightweight carbon fiber design makes it an appealing vessel for both speedsters and casual yachtsmen.
In the interest of making the yacht even greener, its interior walls, insulation and furnishings will be made of a mixture of natural fiber and resin that’s sustainable as well as sharp-looking.
“The design language of the Supersport series is very striking, with its bold lines and heavily automotive styled aesthetic,” according to Bacon. “By using the design trends and features of past and present models I hope to propose a new design language for the hydrofoil series.”
