When the going gets tough, the tough, as they say, get going.

And, if the tough can afford hundreds of thousands of dollars, they get going in tanks like this.

Originally designed and built for the military as a high-speed tracking vehicle, the Ripsaw EV2 (Extreme Vehicle 2) has been modified to meet the needs of extreme off-road recreation enthusiasts who demand only the best from their high-end luxury supertanks (niche market).

Handcrafted during a process that can take up to six months, the two-seat Ripsaw is powered by a 600-HP Duramax diesel engine that’s attached to an Allison automatic transmission and is capable of hitting speeds of more than 60 MPH.

The supertank’s cockpit — which is equipped with gullwing-style doors, heat, A/C, a sound system, high-end leather seats and an LCD screen with an integrated backup-camera display — sits above an aerospace-aluminum hull that can be customized to float.

While that closed-cabin combo is nice, the true star of the Ripsaw show is underneath, as the cockpit and hull are mounted atop a pair of high-grade rubbers tracks that are each worth as much as a base-model Jeep Wrangler, according to Four Wheeler Network.

The 8,000-pound Ripsaw has a 40-gallon fuel tank, can go 300 miles between refills and has a 15,000-pound winch mounted on each of its bumpers for good measure.

However, unless you have a tankload of cash (base models start at $295k), the closest you’ll get to having a Ripsaw in your garage is putting this free wallpaper on your desktop. Or the video:
