We’d warn you not to try this at home, but unless you live in the Swiss Alps, you literally can’t.
In a new video shot in the mountain village of Mürren, Land Rover decided to see what would happen if a Range Rover Sport took on one of the oldest and most difficult ski courses on planet earth.
While skidding his way down the Inferno downhill course, British race car driver Ben Collins brought the 510-HP Rover up to speeds of 96 MPH and finished the 9.25-mile run in 21 minutes and 36 seconds.
In conquering the snow, ice, loose rock, mud, broken asphalt, grass and gravel that comprise the terrain of the 7,119-foot descent, the supercharged Rover Sport — which can hit 140 MPH on level ground — became the first-ever production vehicle to complete the infamous ski run.
“The route was insane and certainly the toughest I’ve completed,” Collins said. “It was about as bad as it gets — torrential weather mixed with cliffs, trees and all kinds of stuff you don’t want to crash into. There could only be one winner in the challenge – the mountain or the car.”
