Here’s some free car-shopping advice:

If it’s good enough for the Pope, it’s good enough for you.

That’s not the official motto behind The Pinnacle Portfolio, the ridiculous vintage/supercar auction taking place this week and now open for registration.

But it works.

Officially, RM Sotheby’s is positioning Pinnacle — a standalone event at the three-day 2015 Monterey sale — as “the most valuable private automobile collection ever presented for a single-day sale.”

Quite a mouthful.

Enzo

In simpler terms: Pinnacle will feature 25 exceedingly rare European sports/racing cars from the ‘50s and ‘60s, as well as a bevy of contemporary supercars.

They’re of a higher power, surely.

We went ahead and compiled a primer for you featuring some of the most decadent rides from the collection.

Some highlights:

The auction takes place this Thursday in Monterey, CA, but interested bidders can also bid by phone or via the Interwebs.

Start your engines.

* It’s not like the Pope went joy riding. The car was auctioned on JPII’s behalf, with proceeds supporting the relief of tsunami victims.
