Automaker Volvo is giving Tesla a run for its money.

The latter has boasted Autopilot app in its Model X helps the car avoid accidents before they happen. But with the release of Volvo’s new XC60 SUV, car owners will be getting similar peace of mind.

The automaker announced that the new safety features are designed to provide drivers with automatic steering assistance or support to help avoid potential collisions. The car’s computer system will automatically take over for a driver to avoid obstacles in the vehicle’s path, if it senses danger. The system works between speeds of 30-60 mph.

Additionally, Volvo has included a system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation, which helps drivers avoid collisions in oncoming lanes. Given that highway speed limits are faster than the average town or city street, that system is engaged at speeds between 40-90 mph.

“We have been working with collision avoidance systems for many years and we can see how effective they are….With the XC60 we are determined to take the next step in reducing avoidable collisions with the addition of steering support and assistance systems,” said Malin Ekholm, senior director, Volvo Cars’ Safety Center, in a statement.
