If the best things in life are worth waiting for, well, Ferrari knows their audience.
When news first broke in March that the LaFerrari — the Italian automaker’s super limited, highly coveted hybrid — would be getting a droptop version, enthusiasts lost their collective proverbial s***.
Yesterday, Ferrari finally teased the first concrete details on the car … or three pictures of it, at least.
But there’s still much we don’t know, including the price, technical specs, model name (although “Aperta” is being rumored), production run or when exactly she will be available.
The things we do know: she’ll carry the same engine as the original LaFerrari, with a 949 combined horsepower pumping out of both a 6.3-liter V12 and a 120 kW electric motor, resulting in a ferocious acceleration rate of 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and a blinding top speed of 217 mph.
We also know the newbie will come with a carbon-fiber removable hard and soft top, and the aerodynamics have been adjusted so no one loses their head — important at any speed over 60, let alone 217.
The remaining info will be released at the October show in Paris, not that it matters: Ferrari has already selected key buyers for a special pre-showing and the entire lot is already sold out.
