American muscle cars are alive and well, thank you very much

Twenty-fifth anniversaries call for silver, fiftieths gold and 75ths diamonds.

Eightieth anniversaries are more of a gray area — or in this case, a black-and-blue one.

To commemorate its 80th anniversary serving as the performance parts arm for Fiat Chrysler, Mopar is rolling out two limited editions of the 2017 Dodge Challenger. One is decked out in black and blue, the other in black and billet silver.

Powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that can produce 485 ponies, the Challengers will be produced in batches of 80 models each and be priced at $56,885. Featuring a classic Shaker hood, a Hellcat-inspired cold air intake, a custom interior with matching seatbacks and door panels all riding on 20-inch aluminum wheels, the 80-year anniversary models are handsome inside and out — and we’d happily take one of each.
