When McLaren’s Special Operations unit — the team that built the marque’s 570S, 650S Spider and P1 GTR — builds a car, you pay attention.
This time is no exception.
McLaren tasked its special ops squad with coming up with a model of its 570GT in advance of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. And they blew the roof off the coupe, quite literally.
The 570GT Concept is outfitted with a feature called the Electro-Chromic roof. According to the MSO team, the panoramic piece is equipped with touch-sensitive lining that allows passengers to adjust the tint of the roof from dark to almost clear with just the touch of a finger.
In addition to that futuristic mod, the supercar has been gifted with a titanium exhaust system with heat shields that change color as they heat and cool depending on engine usage.
Decked out in “Elite Pearl White” paint and glossy carbon fiber panels, the engine room of the 570GT is equally impressive, with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine pumping out more than 560 HP.
Though there’s no plan to make production models of the concept, certain elements could be popping up on other McLaren models in the future. “All remaining MSO items on the car are currently under study but we envisage them becoming part of MSO Defined range later on,” McLaren told New Atlas. “The exhaust is also in development but once ready it’s envisaged to be compatible with other Sports Series derivatives including the 570S and 540C.”
