Thanks to Kreisel Electric, there’s at least one place Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be back: the gas station.
To show off how powerful its electric batteries can be, the Austrian firm replaced the diesel V6 from a Mercedes-Benz G-Class with a pair of battery packs that can silently boost the 5,400-pound SUV from 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds.
During a ceremony at the Hahnenkamm ski race in Kitzbuehel, Kreisel presented the 482-HP electric beast to Schwarzenegger and let him take the off-road vehicle for a spin in the snow.
With a top speed of 113 MPH and a range of 186 miles, Kreisel says the the all-wheel-drive prototype model can be fast-charged up to 80 percent of full capacity in only 25 minutes.
The custom build — which Schwarzenegger will be taking to LA — is a unique prototype that isn’t for sale, but Kreisel is “in contact with partner companies regarding mass production.”
Hasta la vista, diesel.
