Your ladyfriend may love a weekend in the woods or camping by the ocean, but we’ll bet dollars to pesos that she’d prefer to sleep on something besides dirt.

We’ll double down on that bet by offering you the Hyundai Tucson Adventuremobile, haute outdoor living at its rooftop finest.

Hyundai tapped auto-tuner John Pangilinan a couple of years ago to do concept cars for them, and after having done a Volster, Genesis Coup, Sonata and Santa Fe (his daily driver), he decided to turn his talents to the Tucson.

“I grew up surfing, skating and going on trips,” says Pangilinan. “My wife loves hiking. I wanted something that would make it easier for us to spend time together outdoors.” So he rigged up the car with a Treeline Tamarack, a roomy roof tent with a foam mattress and solar panels, which Pangilinan connected to a Goal Zero generator to keep all his devices in the green.

He then raised the suspension 1.5 inches for a little added clearance, fixed her up with some spokes to show off the Wilwood brakes and gave the whole thing a BASF Army green paint job. In the trunk, Pangilinan installed a TruckVault, a concealed safe for everything thing from guns to valuables — ideal for hunters, surfers or anyone who leaves their vehicle unoccupied in the woods for extended periods of time.

It’s on display through Friday at SEMA, but Pangilinan also does custom work, so hit him up if you’re feeling the outdoor itch.
