This Challenger Has a 1971 Body, 2017 Guts

Old-school muscle meets new-school performance

You can stop pinching yourself.

It’s as real as a Donald Trump presidential campaign.

The Dodge Shakedown combines classic hot rod beauty with a blasted HEMI under the hood. Unveiled at SEMA, the modified ‘71 Challenger — handcrafted and one-of-a-kind — churns out 485 ponies thanks to a contemporary 6.4L engine and a six-speed transmission courtesy of the bright folks over at Mopar.

Other hits we can thank Mopar for include a cold-air intake and a custom dual exhaust powder-coated black. And it’s sporting a lowered suspension and SRT Hellcat 19- and 20-inch wheels with front seats (with no rear seats for hitting the track) and a steering wheel pulled from a Viper.

And as if it weren’t the coolest effin’ cat on the block already, the Shakedown concept is painted in a matte “Bitchin Black.”

If this is what wedding yesterday and tomorrow looks like, we’re more than happy to live in limbo.
