A year ago, General Motors teed itself up for its best year ever by releasing the 2020 Corvette, a brand-new, redesigned, mid-engine version of its iconic sports car that was actually (relatively) affordable. Then the union strike hit, then the pandemic hit and now it looks like they won’t be fulfilling all of this year’s orders.
Nonetheless, GM still has reason to celebrate as it recently hit a huge milestone; according to Carscoops, the 1,750,000th Corvette rolled off the line last week. ‘Vette fans have reason to celebrate too, as the automaker is raffling off the historic car this September.
If you want a shot at winning the milestone C8 Corvette, you’ll need to act fast. Only 1,500 raffle tickets are being offered at $200 a piece through the National Corvette Museum, which will host the Arctic White car until the new owner is declared. The paint scheme, along with the Adrenaline Red interior, is a nod to the first-ever production Corvette from 1953.
Is $200 a lot to pay for a raffle ticket? Sure. But as Carscoops noted, there are some upgrades worth throwing your hat in the ring for: “The milestone vehicle is generously specced, featuring the Z51 performance package, 3LT equipment group, machined-face sterling silver aluminum wheels with a 5-trident spoke design, engine appearance package, front lift adjustable height with memory function and more.”
If you want to increase your chances of winning, and don’t really care what number build it is as long as it’s a new Corvette, the museum has two other raffles open: a 2020 Torch Red Corvette Coupe for $20 raffle tickets, and a 2021 build-your-own Corvette slot for $250 raffle tickets.
