Man, those were the days. When Matthew McConaughey (never to be called “Matt“) was on television, and we had a real, binge-watchable hit on our hands in True Detective, Season One. The second season was more than forgettable. And apparently, there’ll be a third. But the first will always stand out as great.
Now, TV fans have the chance to own a major prop from the inaugural season: Rust Cohle’s (i.e. McConaughey’s) beat-up, red 1997 Ford pickup truck. It’s in “fair” condition and has well over 150,000 miles on its odometer. It’s a stick shift, if you’re wondering. And it was donated to the auction house by series creator Nic Pizzolatto.
The folks at Charitybuzz have put it up for auction, and the hammer will come down at 12:00 p.m. PST on April 20 (i.e. today).
At press time, there were 16 bids totaling $12,500 on the truck. It’s valued at $15,000.
