The Black Mamba is a vicious predator with a deadly bite

In order to compete with all-electric three-wheelers from the U.S. and the U.K., an automaker from Malta has given its new trike a name that should strike fear into its competitors’ hearts.

From Valene Motors and Silex Power, we present the steamlined Black Mamba in all its glory.

In development for a number of years, the Black Mamba is a high-performance electric vehicle designed with a superlight chassis made of steel and aerospace aluminium that can offer drivers the fun and excitement of a motorbike and the (relative) safety and reliability of a supercar.

Highlighted by an in-hub rear wheel electric motor that’s capable of generating an impressive 810 HP, all of the Black Mamba’s electronic components are located at the back of the vehicle. With battery packs available in 15, 30 and 50 KWH packages, the Black Mamba can go up to 310 miles on one charge and can use its new hypercharging technology to recharge in just five minutes, according to Silex.

The Black Mamba’s aerodynamic design offers minimal air resistance and its body is made from “composite materials with high elastic and memory properties” that can “sustain low speed impacts without any significant damage” and reduce the risk of injury during high speed wrecks.

The company is so confident its $40,000 vehicle — which’ll be outfitted with an advanced infotainment system and feature smartphone activation technology  —  will be a hit when it’s ready for delivery in 2017, that it’s taking preorders … no questions asked or deposit required.

Take a trike.
