If you read RealClearLife’s preview of the New York International Auto Show, you’ll know how excited we were about some of the rides that were going to be showcased on the Javits Center floor in Manhattan this month. Now that the show’s wrapping up (it closes on Sunday, April 23), RCL has a deeper dive into just what all the automakers rolled in with for the adoring masses.
There was plenty of eye candy, including that Audi Sport R8 LMS GT4 that is pictured above, the company’s latest race car that shares a bloodline with the Audi R8 V10 coupe.
Toyota FT-4X – This concept SUV is four-door, four-wheel-drive crossover that has adventure-travel written all over it. Fold the rear seats flat for those surfboards or electric guitars, and find yet more cargo space under the slidable floor. Find out more here.
Mercedes-Benz AG 2018 AMG GTR – Imagine being in the driver’s seat of this baby, cranking The Misfits’ “Green Hell” to complement the name of that pretty paint job. Starting at $157,000 MSRP, the AMG GTR has a 4.0-liter V8 engine that pumps out 577 hp. Mercy. For more info, click here.
You are like a Huracán … no calm in this ride. No, Neil Young didn’t just rewrite his famous song, but if he had the keys to one of these supercars, he might reconsider doing just that. Having its coming out party at the Geneva Motor Show, this auto rocks a V10 engine and powers out 640 hp—a first for Lamborghini. For more info, click here.
Hyundai Motor Co.’s Genesis GV80 – This concept marks the first SUV in the Genesis line for Hyundai, which runs on both fuel cells and electricity. It also features a glass touchpad with handwriting recognition, per Pulse.
Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 A Coupe – According to Autotrader, this second Mercedes on our list is a midsize crossover coupe with a V8 engine. What that means for the driving experience: With 503 hp, the GLC 63 clocks 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph.
2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – RCL has already spotlighted this badass muscle car in our New York Auto Show preview, but it’s worth printing this one more time: The Demon is the fastest production car ever, clocking 0-60 in just 2.3 seconds. That’s like Steve McQueen fast. For more info, click here.
Subaru Ascent – Next winter, when you’re car’s stuck on the side of the road in a giant car-sized snowbank, you’ll see the happy driver of one of these seven-seaters whiz by like there’s nothing but pavement on the ground. Learn more about the SUV on The Drive.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk – Sporting a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Trackhawk pounds out 707 hp and is just all power. It’ll eat your neighbor’s beat-up ’80s Cherokee for breakfast. For more info, click here.
Lincoln Navigator Concept Car – Gullwing doors on an SUV? Gullwing doors on an SUV. Read more about the Navigator on Car and Driver.
Lucid Motors Inc. Alpha Speed Car – This baby has “speed” in its name, because it was clocked during its first high-stability speed test at 217 mph. So, say, you need to get somewhere really fast—and theoretically, lived in the countryside, where there are no cops—this would be your magic carpet. Learn more here.
Mercedes-AMG GT – Yet another Mercedes to make our final curtain call, the GT will retail for $111,200, and feature a 4.0-liter V8 engine, with 456 hp, that’ll get from 0-60 in a hurry (i.e. 3.7 seconds). For more on the two GT models, click here.
Koenigsegg Automotive AB Agera RS – Another one that made RCL‘s New York Auto Show preview, simply because of how difficult it was to keep our eyes of it. It’ll run about $2 million a pop, and clocks 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. It may not beat the Demon (see above) at the test track, but the Agera will make up for that in style points. So, so pretty.
