“Why then, can one desire too much of a good thing?”

Rosalind to Orlando in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Act 4, Scene 1.

Answer: You can’t. Not when it comes to the Shangri-La of vintage Porsche sales, anyway. In this case, you want approximately all of the good thing.

And RM Sotheby’s has it. Coming across the block are 42 investment-quality Porsches from an exceptional private Swiss collection. And as if we weren’t schoolgirl giddy enough already, the lots are without reserve. They’ll be sold at a series of auctions throughout 2017.

The first roundup — 13 ponies in all — will hit the Paris sale at the world-renowned Rétromobile week in early February. Of note are a 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6 (one of only 17 built), and a super original 1988 Porsche 959 Sport — one of only 29 models and sporting just 11,281 miles on the odi after 30 years on the road. Strolling down the line will also be two modern-era Metzger-powered Porsche 996s: a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 Clubsport, the most powerful of the 996-gen 911.

The remaining 29 rides will go live across various other RM Sotheby’s auctions worldwide in 2017, including the Amelia Island, Monterey and London affairs.

So if you’ve got a fever and the only cure is more Porsche, you know where to go.
