The New Lambo Aventador S Will Deliver More Ponies for Your Pennies

Safe to say 2017 is going to be all about power, again

When you lead the race, there are only two ways to go:

You get passed, or you stay ahead.

Lamborghini — ur-leader in the ongoing race to build the most jaw-slacking car on earth — knows that. Which is why the specs of their newly revealed Aventador S, now with more power, ponies and aggression than ever, should come as no shocker.

It’s not like they were going to build a minivan, right? Not this time, anyway.

Making its debut next March at the 2017 Geneva auto show and driving into garages the following spring, the ride’s starting tag has been confirmed at $421,350. The beast still packs a 6.5-liter V-12 with cylinder deactivation technology, but this time around it comes with tweaked valve timing and a new exhaust, making it 20 percent lighter and equipped with a whopping 730 horsepower (compared to the previous 691) and 509 pound-feet of torque.

The track stats are still the same — 0-62 in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 217 MPH — but with a new four-wheel-steering system, magnetic dampers, an optimized wing and improved aerodynamics, the downforce has been bettered by up to 130 percent throughout the vehicle.

Translation: this thing will be taking corners like a freakin’ Olympic ski racer.

And perhaps most importantly, the Lambo is fitted with carbon-ceramic brake discs as standard. These’ll halt her to a standstill from 62 mph in 101 feet.

Because while we want to trust a 730-pony Aventador, let’s be honest: no one man should have all that power.
