If this ’62 Jaguar E-Type makes you a little hot under the collar, well, that makes two of us.
First introduced in ‘61, designer Malcolm Sayers attributes his inspiration to two sources: the sport model XK SS, and the curves of a beautiful woman. Seriously. (Forgive him; these are the Mad Men days we’re talking about, after all.)
One of the models has adorned the Museum of Modern Art in NYC since ‘68; a year later, in ’69, it was introduced to the American market with revamped turn signals, tail lamps and bumper bars.
Soon to hit the block at Auctionata, this E-Type has a lengthy resume of race time, from 6 Hours of Spa to the Le Mans 12 Hours Historique, from the Classic Grand Prix to the 20 Hora Carrera. She comes with a new fuel tank, new seat and new belt, with bidding opening at $90k.
September 10th is the date; mark your calendars.
