If you happened to have caught the “Concert for George” back in 2002—which celebrated the life of fallen Beatle George Harrison—you might’ve remembered a kid onstage, strumming away proudly on an acoustic guitar, who looked uncannily similar to the late great musician. That was Harrison’s son, Dhani, having his coming-out party, flanked by music legends such as Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Lynne.
He would later reprise his role in the all-star lineup at the 2004 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which featured Prince‘s memorable, blistering outro guitar solo.
Since then, the younger Harrison has formed his own band, thenewno2 (a.k.a. The New No. 2); started a side-project, Fistful of Mercy, which includes artists Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur; won a Grammy; and toured the world. He also recently helped to induct Lynne’s band Electric Light Orchestra into the Rock Hall.
Now 38, Harrison is poised to release his first solo album, reports Variety. It will be entitled IN///PARALLEL, and drop on Oct. 6.
