Archaeologists in Thailand have reconstructed the face of a Stone Age woman using computer graphics.
According to the International Business Times, the woman’s remains were discovered in Northwestern Thailand and date from approximately 13,600 years ago. (They originate from the Late Pleistocene Tham Lod rockshelter.) “The first approximation of the woman’s face has now been created, using a global dataset of measurements of skulls, muscles, skin, and other soft facial tissue from a large sample of the population across the world,” according to the report.
The woman was thought to be between the ages of 25 and 35, and stood about 4-foot-9 or 5-foot-1 inches tall.
The findings were first reported in Cambridge University Press’ journal, Antiquity.
