From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your three-step itinerary to a damn good time.

This week: surfing, shopping and dining on Peruvian food in Del Mar. Here’s your plan.

Surf

Del Mar’s beaches are gorgeous. And now that tourist season has past, fairly spacious. You could hit Torrey Pines State Reserve. Or, for a little adventure, park at either 10th or 15th Street. These residential streets are free. Walk to the end, hop the guardrail, cross the railroad tracks and hike the goat path down to the beach. Seclusion awaits.

Here’s your plan.

Late Lunch

You’re probably famished by now. So walk over to Café Secret, an open-air Peruvian restaurant facing Del Mar’s European-style town center. Order up some fresh octopus and snapper ceviche to start, then finish with a chicharron — a manly pulled pork sandwich with roasted yams and pickled red onions. Wash it all down with a Cusqueña, Peru’s favorite malt liquor.

Here’s your plan.

Shop

Before hitting the road, wander two doors north to newly opened The Black Spot by Matuse, maker of the most hydrophobic, comfy wetsuits on the market. Their geoprene is silky smooth, stretchy and built to last. Also worth a gander: Josh Oldenburg boards, Crap Eyewear and an array of stylish tees.

Here’s your plan.
