Anthony Bourdain has become one of the most outspoken famous men to call out bad celebrity men during the #MeToo movement — with mixed results. Bourdain’s posts have centered around survivors, and he himself acknowledged that his post may be too little, too late. He said he spent nearly 30 years in the restaurant industry, which is known to be “pervasively hostile to women.” He also said he knows that his first book romanticized and celebrated that environment. Bourdain’s recent enlightenment comes from his partner, Asia Argento, who is one of the many women who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. The actor and director subsequently left Italy because of the backlash she faced from misogynistic media outlets, and Bourdain said that is is “disgusting and dismaying and discouraging” to see how she has been treated.
