Following the 2021 death of Virgil Abloh, there’s been a vacancy for the menswear creative director at Louis Vuitton. Now, the company has announced a successor, and it’s another figure whose work touches a number of creative disciplines. That would be Pharrell Williams, as The Hollywood Reporter shared.

In announcing the appointment, Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari alluded to Williams’ previous collaborations with the company. “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director,” Beccari said in a statement. “His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”

Williams’s previous collaborations with Louis Vuitton ventured into some interesting places, including the Blason collection of jewelry, which found him working with Camille Miceli. Williams also co-founded Billionaire Boys Club in 2003. There’s obviously his ongoing work in the music industry, including the Something in the Water music festival. It’s also worth mentioning that Williams is the rare person who can dress like a carnival barker and still look stylish while doing it.
