In partnership with The Glenrothes
“Once in a while you trust that you’re right and you stick with it.”
Hamilton Leithauser would know. The New York City-based singer/songwriter has spent more than two decades honing his craft, lately as a solo artist, but formerly as the lead singer of the beloved indie rock band The Walkmen and prior to that as a member of The Recoys. Throughout his creative evolution, a commitment to storytelling has remained Leithauser’s north star. In his words, taking something specific and shaping it so that it resounds with a bigger meaning.
Leithauser recently shared these and other reflections with us over a dram (okay, or two) of The Glenrothes 18 Year Old in one of the parlor rooms at the Inn At Irving Place in New York City, a Victorian-inspired boutique hotel set in a pair of 1834 brick townhouses. The Inn is a fitting setting for a chat about tradition, craft and the passion that inspires creators of all kinds. And the Glenrothes is a fitting quaff.
The brand traces its roots to pastoral Scotland in the Speyside town of Rothes, where founder James Stuart saw local coopers with intimate knowledge of the whisky aging process and a deep commitment to making only the best. Since 1879, his vision has been borne out in the form of award-winning single malt whisky crafted meticulously with no frills by a passionate community of whisky artisans who continue to strive forward while remaining ever respectful of tradition. Taking something specific and giving it a bigger meaning. Or, you might say, they trust that they’re right and they stick with it.
In the end, The Glenrothes whisky, like a Hamilton Leithauser song, tells a story – of pride, passion and, above all, expert craft. To immerse yourself in The Glenrothes story, and be the first to hear about every new chapter, create your account at their member hub, The Spirit of Rothes.
