Meet Lola, The Up-For-Grabs Race Car Of Your Dreams

In the racing world, A.J. Foyt was a force to be reckoned with.

He is the only driver to have taken the Indy 500 (four times, no less), the Daytona 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The laundry list also includes the International Race of Champions, the Firecracker 400 and more.

It was in 1966 when he and powder blue beauty met. The Canadian-American Challenge Cup’s FIA Group 7 had very liberal restrictions for what could be entered. The result was a very exciting, very powerful bouquet of steeds, including this Lola T70.

The dream girl was purchased by Goodyear specifically for Foyt for the Can-Am series. With Foyt behind the wheel, the car went on to take first overall in the ”66 Nassau Classic in the Bahamas. If you don’t know racing, this is all a big deal on the circuit.

In ‘67, Lola changed hands to driver Bob Bondurant who lent the car to Universal Studios. You might recognize her from her cameo in Paul Newman’s Winning. And now, Lola’s story is ready for the next unwritten chapter. Fully rebuilt, the ride is race-ready and would look mighty fine crossing the line at the Goodwood Revival.
