Earlier this year, Prince Andrew’s presence on social media got noticeably smaller, which is to say effectively nonexistent. This was widely perceived to be a good thing, given that royal in question was at the center of a host of scandals — notably arising from his association with Jeffrey Epstein and accusations of sexual assault against him.
After Prince Andrew reached a settlement with Virginia Giuffre for an undisclosed amount, you might expect that to be the last we’d hear from him. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In a new article for Air Mail, Stuart Heritage chronicles the latest series of scandals to embroil Prince Andrew.
This includes Prince Andrew’s connections to Selman Turk, a banker accused of embezzling millions of pounds. As Heritage’s article points out, a onetime client of Turk’s paid Prince Andrew a million pounds at roughly the same time Turk won an award from the prince’s Pitch@Palace initiative.
As Heritage points out, these aren’t the only scandals Prince Andrew is currently enmeshed in; there’s also the bizarre occasion of him using his ex-wife’s Instagram account to reflect on his time in the Falklands War before deleting the post. The whole thing feels like a case study in taking an already-damaged reputation and somehow making it much, much worse.
