Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of it. Today: Dunkin’s coffee-flavored jelly beans are back, Omega releases a new Seamaster iteration, and Amazon’s “live radio” app allows anyone to disc jockey.
Filson x Xtratuf 6” Legacy Boots
Xtratuf boots live up to their name, but we’re glad Filson helped make them a little easier on the eyes. Thanks to this collaboration, you can pick up a pair of waterproof boots — featuring triple-dipped rubber — in a black, brown and green edition that won’t cramp your style.
Old Bay Vodka
A partnership between George’s Beverage Company (which already makes an Old Bay Bloody Mary Mix), Maryland’s McClintock Distilling and spice masters McCormick & Company, Old Bay Vodka is made from corn and distilled six times. And, obviously, flavored via Old Bay spices (so probably ideal for Bloody Marys).
Alex Crane Campo Sweater
You’ve heard of 3D-printing, but how about 3D-knitting? Alex Crane’s innovative sweaters are constructed using cutting-edge knitting machines to produce an impeccably dense and shockingly airy Campo Sweater.
Dunkin Donuts Jelly Beans
Dunkin Beans are back, baby! The coffee stalwarts are re-releasing their iced coffee-flavored jelly beans in time for Easter, which come in five caffeine-forward flavors — French Vanilla, Caramel Latte, Butter Pecan, Toasted Coconut and Hazelnut. Yum!
AMP App
Consider this app somewhere between Clubhouse, podcasts, old-school radio and new-school streaming. Created by Amazon, Amp basically allows creators to make and stream (and even schedule) their own shows — and ones filled with music (tens of millions of songs have been licensed for use). While it allows everyday people to make their own shows, the tech giant is also debuting programs from Nicki Minaj, Pusha T, Travis Barker, Big Boi and various radio hosts and culture writers. And yes, you’ll need to have an Amazon account to listen.
Jameson Ginger & Lime
You can finally get a good canned cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day. Irish whiskey leader Jameson — which recently suggested St. Patrick’s Day will be two days this year (fine by us) — just launched a line of easy-sipping whiskey/lime/ginger cocktails.
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep
In the last decade, dive-inspired watches have proliferated like zebra mussels, many of them aping the style without offering any of the real-deal functionality. Now, Omega has offered up the opposite of that: the Planet Ocean Ultra Deep. A version of this Seamaster was tested in 2019 to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest place on Earth, and now they’ve engineered one you can actually buy, now with a water-resistance rating of 6,000 meters (20,000 feet). You will never, ever dive that deep, but it’s a technical marvel we’d be glad to wear any day.
Razor Icon Electric Scooter
Are you young enough that you remember riding the original Razor scooter as a kid? Well, Razor wants to sell you another one of those, except this time it’s bigger (you’re an adult now) and electric (you actually have places to be now besides your next-door neighbor Billy’s house). The new Razor Icon is currently funding on Kickstarter with an estimated delivery of August 2022 — but again, this is Kickstarter, so if you do back the project be aware that date could change.
Tombolo Ménage-à-Gnaw Cabana Shirt
We’ve already christened Tombolo’s Cabana shirt the compliment-inducer, but their latest design has another big selling point: 100 percent of sales from this terry cloth layer in March will be donated to the Arctic Ice Project, a nonprofit working to halt climate change-induced ice melt. Do a little good, get a shirt sporting seals and a shark that you’ll never want to take off.
Spark MINI
A battery-powered practice amp and Bluetooth speaker that’s also travel-friendly (and a compact off-shoot of the Spark Amp, the best-selling practice guitar amp). Pre-orders offer a modest discount and the units ship in May.
Alberta Premium
The Canadian distillers behind one of the recent best whisky winners just launched their core product in the U.S. for the first time, a 100 percent Canadian prairie rye that utilizes spring water from the surrounding Rocky Mountains. It’s not the cask strength winner, but it will be much easier to find (and just $25).
Nike Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi”
An upcoming release for Air Max Day (3/26), Nike’s “Wabi-Sabi” colorway is a gorgeously crafted rendition of the Air Max 1. The Tinker Hatfield design boasts subtle stitching, a bevy of materials and smooth earth tones of khaki, green, orange and pink. It’s our favorite release announcement so far, but good luck getting your hands on a pair — the shoe will be exclusive release to Asia-Pacific and Latin America, so resale is your only option.
The Watch Stand X Berd Vaye
An innovative design utilizing cutting edge materials, The Watch Stand x Berd Vaye has birthed four different horological sculptures to proudly display your most luxurious timepieces.
TwelveSouth iMac 24″ Backpack
TwelveSouth’s backpack is one of those simple yet ingenious devices you’d never think to buy but will be thrilled that you have. Basically a shelf for your iMac or other device — the company makes a slew of organization-minded products for optimal productivity — it’s make for a great spring gift (or present for yourself).
Diptyque Tableware
French parfumerie Diptyque is revered for their signature scents, and to celebrate their 60th anniversary, they’ve released a sense-mind collection of tableware that does to the eyes (and your apartment) what their tantalizing candles do to the nose.
Tushy “Girls Do Shit” T-Shirt
Tuesday marked International Women’s Day, and man, the brands were out in full force. Attempting to fight the stigma around women and their bowels (or lack thereof), bidet brand Tushy released a new ad and limited-edition “Girls Do Shit” T-shirt, celebrating all the cool shit women do. Get it? Because women shit and also accomplish things. Anyway, we won’t shit on this IWD marketing move too hard because proceeds from the tees went to Girls with Guts — a nonprofit serving women with inflammatory bowel disease.
