It’s Not a Race Car, but It’s Pretty Damn Close

Audi's new R8 is a silver bullet in a tiny red dress

To kick off the 2017 New York Auto Show in style, Audi’s recently rebranded Sport Division made like a peacock and put its fully colors on display.

The colors appear to be silver, red and black.

This week Audi Sport (formerly known under the Audi Quattro name) rolled out a special edition R8 called the R8 V10 Audi Sport Edition that’s entirely decked out in the division’s favorite three colors — an homage to “the colors of Audi Sport.” The German carmaker will limit the new make to just 200 models.

Outfitted with a 5.2-liter engine under the hood that puts out a beefy 398 pound-feet of torque, the new R8 does 0-60 in under four seconds and tops out a few notches north of 200 MPH.

Other features include 2o-inch aluminum wheels with 10 spokes apiece. The R8 is available with 540 horses standard in the U.S. but can be upgraded to a 610-HP model in other lucky locales.

Audi has yet to announce pricing details, but it appears German customers will be paying upwards of $193,000 for the standard model and $218,500 for the upgraded version.

Worth every mark.
