Look, you could build a giant wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. And we could fight about what it means and what its worth. Or, we could put all our differences aside and build the actual future.
As in, a 1250-mile hyperloop transportation system/non-government utopia shared by two great countries.
Pipe dream (pun intended)? Sort of, though the hyperloop border is an actual proposal from MADE Collective, an idealistic tag team of Mexican and American engineers that recently submitted their plans the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Dubbed Otra Nation, this border-wide hyperloop (aka Elon Musk’s pneumatic transport concept …a nd remember, Musk is working with the President) would stretch across the shared border, which would now be a “regenerative co-nation shared by citizens of both Mexico and the United States” that people from both countries could utilize. The loop would be powered by nearby solar farms.
Total cost? $15 billion, or six billion less than the current estimate for the wall.
We’ll find out in June which proposals will be brought to prototype.
