At 13.1-miles-long, Germany’s Nürburgring racetrack in Nürburg is the longest in the world.
Well Nürburg, as it’s done with bonus cash, clean fun and basic morals, Vegas is coming for ya.
About 45 minutes away from Sin City’s Strip, certified gearhead John Morris is building a raceway with at least 15 miles of track that will be the main attraction at his private racing club.
Morris, who made billions as the majority owner of Bass Pro Shops, envisions Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club as more than just a destination for those with a need for speed and also plans to build a six-mile course for off-roading, a go-kart track and a 160-foot zip line.
The expanded track and those additions will complement amenities that already exist — like a 8,000-square-foot clubhouse, freshwater lake, gun range and jetpack course — at the club.
(A jetpack course may sound odd, but Morris knows all about ‘em — just not how to fly ‘em.)
Membership at Spring Mountain doesn’t come cheap ($50,000 to join and then $5,000 per year to renew), but it includes the chance to become part of what Morris calls Race Town, Nevada. “We’ll end up with our own city, and we can do whatever the hell we want,” he told Bloomberg.
