If you’re an avid traveler, you understand that a good set of luggage is a smart, nay necessary, investment. First and foremost, you’ll be looking for something functional and durable. Though, for me, aesthetic is also at the top of the list — albeit sometimes harder to find. Fortunately, thanks to my new Zero Halliburton, I can have it all.
Born in the American Midwest oil fields at the hands of industrialist Erle Halliburton, Zero Halliburton has been the choice travel brand of jet-setters with an eye for design and the need for durability since 1938. Known as one of the pioneers of the aluminum suitcase, the company has expanded its product offering to include a variety of shapes and materials, including polycarbonate, carbon fiber and soft-sided cases. And, in addition to appearances in approximately 300 movies and television shows, this sleek, rugged luggage has also been charged with carrying moon rocks from the Apollo 11 mission back to earth and serving as the Nuclear Football for U.S. presidents. Talk about wanderlust.
To add it its already illustrious line of luggage, today Halliburton released a new, and equally iconic line — the Edge Lightweight Brilliant Collection.
What is effectively a spin on the bestselling Edge Lightweight Collection, the Brilliant Collection is comprised of a line of hard-sided travel cases in a handsome, shiny, mirror-like finish. Almost entirely customized, all of the cases feature Zero Halliburton’s signature double rib design, a bespoke pull handle designed for an ergonomic palm fit, patented ZH Concave Edging, performance-enhancing ball bearing wheels and matte details. Available in black, navy and gray, and in Continental carry-on, International carry-on, medium and large-sized suitcases as well as in a portable trunk, the Brilliant Collection is the very epitome of durable, functional and, yessir, good looking luggage.
Because, when I tell you these cases look good, I mean they look great. In fact, when I received my own high-gloss navy ZH case, my partner immediately attempted to facilitate a carry-on trade, despite it being monogrammed with my own initials (I obviously declined). The only caveat is that, like with any other hard-sided suitcase, it’s virtually impossible to overpack. Once it’s full, it’s time to zip up and walk away. Although, many would consider that to be a perk, too.
Like any good luggage, the Brilliant Collection cases will require a bit of an investment — ranging in price from $425 to $725. But, the good news is, you’ll have it a long, long time. Like, practically forever. The even better news? You’ll look good as hell moving through the airport with this case in tow. Take it from someone who wielded one at Newark International just this morning (alongside a still-salty partner, nonetheless). Check out the rest of the collection here.
