The Porsche 918 Spyder, which set a production-car record by lapping the 12.8-mile-long track at Nürburgring in 6:57, is so fast, it was once used to race a plane.
Wall Streeter, film producer and serious motorhead James Glickenhaus says his street-legal SCG 003 Stradale is faster. We tend to believe him. Beget by the SCG 003 racer that Glickenhaus’ company Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus originally designed to compete at Nürburgring, the new and shiny SCG 003S has racing DNA coursing throughout its aerodynamic veins.
Glickenhaus says the SCG 003S will be able to finish a ‘ring lap in just 6:30 … while wearing Dunlop street tires to boot. The car is set to officially debut at the Geneva International Motor Show,.
While that boast seems a little, well … insane, the new SCG 003’s specs — 800 HP, 2,900 pounds including a full tank of gas, top speed above 217 MPH, 627 pound-feet of torque, able to pull two G while cornering — back up what Glickenhaus has claimed, if they prove accurate.
We’ll find out if the $1 million grocery-getter can squash the Spyder’s time in short order, but even if it can’t, we’d still gladly use it to ferry the kids to soccer practice.
