Last month, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis revealed they’re not exactly big on bathing, noting that they shower infrequently and only wash their children when “you can see the dirt on them.” Apparently that was all it took for other potentially smelly celebs to feel comfortable disclosing that they too are not big fans of showers and baths. Kristen Bell admitted she “waits for the stink” before bathing her and Dax Shepard’s daughters, while Jake Gyllenhaal recently told Vanity Fair that “more and more, I find bathing to be less necessary.”

Now, however, we have someone on the opposite end of the shower spectrum weighing in. After a fan tagged him on Twitter insisting that he couldn’t possibly be one of those “celebrities who don’t wash themselves,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed that he’s the “opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb” and revealed that he showers three times a day.

“Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’,” he wrote. “Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower.”

Now, it’s important to note that for most people, three showers a day is excessive. Bathing too often removes healthy oil and bacteria from your skin, messing with its microbiome and potentially leaving it dry and itchy. However, in this particular instance, we also have to consider The Rock’s lifestyle. Showering after a workout to remove excess sweat is, of course, a totally reasonable thing to do. And as anyone who has ever laid eyes upon The Rock can tell, the guy works out a lot. That third daily shower that he takes “after I get home from work” might very well be another post-workout shower, given that his “work” as an action star often entails a lot of physically demanding stunts.

Still, the temperature thing is a little weird. (A cold shower first thing in the morning, pre-coffee no less, sounds absolute torture, though there are benefits to it.) And for the average person who isn’t working out pretty much all day long, three showers is definitely too many.

There’s gotta be a happy medium between only showering when you see visible dirt and The Rock’s regimen. When will we start hearing from the once-a-day crowd?
