Pagani’s New Roadster Just Won the Geneva Auto Show Before It Started

Hope you prefer your loins shaken AND stirred

No two midlife crises are the same.

Some men quit their jobs. Some get new families. And some aim rather smaller: say, buying a snazzy sports car that says, “I am more fun and exciting than my grey hair and dad bod belie.”

And if the LaFerrari was formerly the token calling card of panicked fortysomethings, consider the newest ride in the Pagani stable its natural successor. But whereas the LaFerrari veers toward a full-on race car, the forthcoming Pagani Huayra Roadster is more like a luxurious private jet.

Here’s what we know so far about the 2018 Roadster, set to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show:

Replacing the dated Zonda, Pagani released the Huayra (meaning “God of the Wind”) coupe in 2012 in a limited run of 100. They’ve been sold out since 2015, but the manufacturer has released a handful of bespoke models in the interim, including the soon-to-be-released and quite powerful BC. While the BC is likely to remain the most powerful make, the roadster is suspected to be more powerful than the coupe, as well as lighter and with its own chassis.

From the released photos, bodywise, we’re looking at a different rear diffuser, two additional vertical fins, a removable top likely in carbon fiber, dual flying buttresses and a rear that graduates into a bit of a spoiler. The interior is destined to be top of the line carbon fiber trim, Italian leather and polished aluminum with a thrilling V-12 positioned behind the seats and a healthy exhaust bundle to match.

Oh, and it will likely be righteously expensive — the coupe ran for $1.4 million.

Considering roadsters are swooped up and definitely sexier, the 2018 ride could run into the $2 million+ range once all your bespoke bells and whistles are integrated.

Worth waiting for? Depends on the depth of your taste … and your pockets.
