As Jud Crandall opined in Pet Sematary, sometimes, dead is better.
This is not one of those times.
In a move that’ll make 25 people very, very happy and countless others very, very green with envy, Aston Martin will be bringing its lightweight DB4 GT back from the dead more than 50 years after the last of the iconic cars — only eight of which exist today — was produced.
Limited to 25 track-only models, the appearance of the continuation DB4 GTs will be identical to the originals down to the smallest detail, but the similarities will not continue under the hood.
The two-seaters will be handbuilt at the same facility where the originals were created, and the new models will be outfitted with a straight-six cylinder engine with two spark plugs per cylinder as well as have improved “engine performance, handling, braking and safety.”
In order to give customers a way to enjoy the track-only models legally, Aston Martin came up with a two-year international track driving program that will travel to the world’s top race tracks and allow DB4 GT owners to hone their skills with the marque’s dedicated driver training team.
Deliveries of the cars are set to commence next year in Q3, so start liquidating your assets now.
