Exciting news for those of us whose caffeine addictions are so out-of-control that we’ve occasionally had to resort to pouring Coke in our coffee or vice versa: we don’t have to do that anymore! Though it has been available abroad for some time now, Coke with Coffee is finally launching in the United States on Monday.
As CNN reports, the drink is made with Brazilian coffee and comes in three flavors — dark blend, vanilla and caramel — as well as a zero-calorie, zero-sugar version. Each 12-ounce can contains 69 milligrams of caffeine, which is about half as much as you’d find in your typical 12-ounce cup of coffee but roughly twice the amount of caffeine present in a regular can of Coca-Cola.
Coke with Coffee first launched in Japan in 2018, and since then it has spread to over 30 countries, including Australia, Italy and Vietnam. The move to the States has reportedly been in the works for some time now, and the company spent two years testing the product before the American launch this week.
“It’s not just testing a product and a formula, but it’s also making sure that we have the right packaging, that we’re really understanding what consumers want in the drink,” Brandan Strickland, brand director of trademark at Coca-Cola in North America, told CNN.
“Many people are often torn between reaching for a soft drink or a coffee at 3 p.m. at work, at school or on the go,” Strickland added in a press release. “Now, you don’t need to leave Coca-Cola to get your coffee fix.”
