What’s the next logical step for an actor who’s played James Bond on screen? For at least one alumnus of the role, the answer is simple: live like James Bond. In this case, that translates to luxurious lodging, interesting gadgets and delicious food and drink —which seems preferable to dealing with sinister villains and foiling global plots, to be honest.
In the 1990s, Pierce Brosnan made his mark on the character, and subsequently turned his Malibu home into a kind of homage to all things Bond. According to a report at the New York Post, Brosnan funded the house with the money he made from 2002’s Die Another Day, and its decor drew inspiration from his experiences shooting Tomorrow Never Dies on location.
The house is in the news right now because Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye Brosnan are selling it — and the cost is likely more than an international superspy could afford. How much is the asking price? $100 million.
According to the article, that makes the house the 8th most expensive house in Los Angeles County. This, in turn, may make one wonder what the 7 more expensive houses are. The house and a guesthouse sit on an acre of land, 120 feet of which face the Pacific Ocean.
As for the Brosnans, they’re selling the house because they’re spending more of their time on Hawaii — not a bad alternative to Malibu, all things considered.
