Ferrari Is Building 209 LaFerrari Apertas But You Can’t Have One

Who needs a 950-HP drop-top hybrid hypercar anyway?

Good things, we’re told, come to those who wait.

Except the 950-HP LaFerrari Aperta. If you’re waiting for one of those, give up now, because all 209 of the hybrid hypercars are sold out.

Unveiled at the Paris Auto Show, the first of Ferrari’s 209 droptops is powered by two electric motors and a 6.3-liter V12 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. And with a 0-62 time of less than three seconds and a top speed of 217 MPH, you could say it’s got some giddy-up.

While those specs are impressive, the number we’re most fixated on is 209.

Ferrari is building 200 Apertas for customers and another nine to use in a 60-country tour the marque will embark on in order to showcase the Ferrari brand around the world.

There’s a slight chance something could change and one or two of the extra models will hit the market after the tour is over, but assuming that’s not the case, Ferrari did reveal some new potential substitute options that have piqued our interest.

Inspired by iconic models from the past, Ferrari and Tailor Made will combine models from 70 different individual liveries to create up to 350 unique cars that will include designs like “The Schumacher,” “The Steve McQueen” and “The Green Jewel.”
