Nine times out of ten, when you go missing in the woods it’s because you’ve strayed from the trail.
And if you’ve strayed from the trail, that also means the rescue party is going to have a hard time finding you. Unless they have a bird’s eye view.
That’s the idea behind Nissan’s new Enguard Concept pickup truck, which is slated to become available in 2017. Based of of the automaker’s internationally acclaimed Navara, the Enguard comes with all of the tools rescue workers need, including a drone that can be launched to help to cover more ground quickly.

The drone, a DJI Phantom 4, has a battery life of 30 minutes and relays images back to a HD screen in the Enguard’s bed, where super-organized trays and bins provide easy access to survival tools such as ropes, an axe, first-aide kit and walkie-talkies.
There are also electric ports for devices, which are run off of a clean energy EV battery which powers 2kW charging docks. The portable battery pack is modeled off of Nissan’s LEAF, all-electric vehicles.
Although the prototype runs on a 2.3-litre 190PS twin-turbo diesel engine, Nissan is looking to make these cars electric in the future.
The modish design is slick and easy to identify without being ostentatious, with neon green trim and flickering blue LED lights on the roof and up front.
The only thing that beats getting rescued is getting rescued in style.
